Workers’ Party protest rally in Barisal against lies and propaganda

Since the morning, leaders and activists of the Workers’ Party from different wards of the city gathered in separate processions at the party office premises on Sadar Road. Leaders of the metropolitan BNP and its affiliates also joined in. After the rally, they took out a protest procession. The procession circled the main roads of the city and ended in front of the party office.

The speakers at the rally alleged that a group is trying to pin the responsibility for the murder of businessman Sohag in Midford on the Labor Party. They are continuing a series of conspiracies targeting the party’s acting chairman, Tarique Rahman, who is based in London. They also said that the government’s indifference is clear behind the deterioration of the law and order situation in the country. They demanded that effective steps be taken quickly to end this situation.

Stating that a group is carrying out various types of propaganda targeting the BNP, the convener of the metropolitan BNP at the rally, Moniruzzaman Khan said, “Not only that, there is also a conspiracy to question the smart leadership of our leader Tarique Rahman, who is located thousands of miles away. But we want to say unequivocally that BNP is the largest democratic party in this country. BNP founder martyr President Ziaur Rahman is the advocate of multi-party democracy in this country. For the past 16 years, BNP has continuously fought for democracy against the fascist government. Numerous leaders and activists have endured imprisonment, oppression, and torture. Many leaders and activists of this party have given their lives. Those who want to make that party controversial today cannot be a force in favor of democracy.’

In the president’s speech, Faiz Ahmed said that a group is basically conspiring against BNP and Tarique Rahman with the aim of prolonging the elections and destroying democratic rights. But this conspiracy against BNP, the country’s largest democratic force, has never been successful, and it will not happen this time either.
